TheirStack
From AltData.wiki, The Alternative Data Encyclopedia
TheirStack is a data company that builds and licenses investment-grade datasets from public signals — job postings, technology adoption and social activity[1]. It sells primarily to alternative-data buyers at funds and investment firms, as well as to go-to-market teams that use the same signals for outbound and market intelligence[6].
The company is the first-party org behind the premium datasets indexed on this hub, and the only verified provider in the register.
What the company does
TheirStack collects and structures public signals at scale and turns them into point-in-time datasets with an API and bulk delivery[1]. The flagship product is a global job-postings dataset: postings are captured with open and close timestamps, which allows buyers to reconstruct exactly what was live at any past date — a requirement for survivorship-free backtesting[2].
Around that core, the company expanded into related signal families: technographics (which technologies companies adopt and when they switch)[3] and buying intents (what companies are buying, complying with and investing in, read from their hiring topics)[4].
Available datasets
TheirStack currently publishes three premium datasets on this hub: job-postings[2] (229M postings from 354k sources across 195 countries, history back to 2021, with a dedicated closed-postings file for point-in-time correctness), technographics[3] (which of 33k technologies each of 13M companies runs, with confidence scores and first/last-seen dates) and buying-intents[4] (393M intent signals across 9.4k topics — what companies are buying, complying with and investing in, inferred from what they hire for).
All three are licensed products rather than open downloads; each one has its own article on the datasets hub with delivery, history and refresh details[5].
Data history and methodology
Job-postings coverage goes back to 2021 and is refreshed hourly; every posting carries the timestamps needed for point-in-time queries[2]. Technographic detections include a confidence score, an observation date and the evidence behind each call, and the pipeline explicitly tracks adoption changes — companies starting or stopping the use of a technology — rather than only static snapshots[3].
Delivery and pricing
Data is delivered via API, S3, Snowflake or Parquet depending on the product, which matches the plumbing most quant teams already run[1]. Bulk files ship as CSV or Parquet on S3 with daily refresh (hourly available for jobs). Licensing is tiered by usage; public pricing lists tiers up to around $5,500/month for high-volume API access[5].
Buyers and use cases
On the investment side, the datasets are used for earnings signals (hiring as a leading indicator of revenue), deal sourcing and due diligence by VCs and PE, and macro or sector momentum research. On the commercial side, the same signals power outbound campaigns (companies hiring for roles that imply a purchase) and competitive monitoring, including detecting when companies switch away from a technology.
Public references for the data include enterprise buyers such as Equifax[1].
